thekopitiam.info is a blog feed aggregator of Malaysian blogs. It uses the RSS or Atom feeds of submit blogs and bring its all together, using tags of posts to filter into different "channels".
The goal of the site is provide bloggers a place to reach out to possible new readers based on the readers' interests.
kopitiam n. coffee shop in the Chinese dialect of Hokkien. In Malaysia, kopitiams usually have hawker style stalls serving various local food and drinks. A popular place for locals to meet and gossip over meals or snacks.
The premise behind this site is pretty simple. Any of the site's users/readers can submit any Malaysian blogs to be aggregated by the site. The site uses RSS or Atom feeds which are part and parcel of almost all blogs these days, so long as the feed is valid, it will work with this site.
There is only one criteria the submitted blogs must meet; the author or authors of the blogs must be either Malaysian or living in Malaysia. However, thekopitiam.info reserves the right to block any blog at its own discretion.
Once the site is submitted, gears and cogs of the site will spin and it will gather the posts of the blogs using the feeds. The posts are then sorted by the tags of the posts and filtered into "channels".
Channels are filtered lists based on the tags of the post, usually with a common theme. That way readers can read posts that interests them. So make sure your posts are tagged correctly! It is also possible to create custom channels so the possibilities are endless!
As the site allows pretty much anyone to submit blogs, thekopitiam.info enforces an opt-out policy. This means that if your blog is being aggregated by the site but do not wish it to be, contact us directly and we can remove your posts from the site (once we establish you are the real owner of course).
